It’s a great time to join us, and we have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Supply Manager to join us to ensure we have the data we need as well as ideate new ways we can use and monetise our data.
This is a critical role for the company and one that is right at the centre of what Sparta does. This role gives you the opportunity to make a real impact in a scaling technology business with data at its core. You’ll be highly visible across the business, work with senior leaders across Sparta, and play a key role in defining our data strategy as we grow.
This role will be based in either London, Geneva or Houston and operate on a hybrid working basis.
What you’ll be doing:
This role is about ensuring Sparta always has the data we need, minimising risk and cost. You’ll work closely with our Commodity Owners to understand their data needs, and with external data providers to secure agreements to ingest the data. You’ll also be responsible for our data strategy, with your finger on the pulse and thinking creatively of what more we can do with our data and how we collaborate with other data providers and consumers.
This will involve:
- Proactively identifying new opportunities for market data acquisition
- Selecting the most appropriate data providers based on Sparta’s business requirement
- Organising data quality testing
- Negotiating terms with third parties
- Overseeing the implementation and use of data sets, planning data implementation, and ensuring data runs effectively to the Sparta platform
- Maintaining data management plans, regularly reviewing data quality, managing data risks, and optimising data costs vs revenues ratio
- Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures
- Maintaining good relationships with data/software providers
- Establishing the data strategy with our Chief Strategy Officer- including working with data feed providers and building Sparta’s image as a market data provider
About you:
- Experience in the data management, analysis or other data administration function, including collection and distribution, and demonstrable knowledge of how to negotiate and the typical legal agreements with data providers.
- Experience within a trading company, bank, hedge fund, Price Reporting Agency, or data provider in a data procurement and supply role. Ideally knowledge and experience of Oil, Commodities or Financial markets
- Excellent negotiation skills and the confidence and ability to communicate and influence both internally and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to compile and organise findings and data retrieved (proficient in Excel)
In depth understanding of modern database and information technologies - Good analytical skills
- Good understanding of data management and data administration duties such as collection, legal landscape, analysis and distribution
- Understanding the data landscape in the commodity market
- An interest in new technology and excited by the idea of building a disruptive, scaling technology business
- Thrives in ambiguity. Proactive, with a proven ability to work with a high level of independence, urgency and accountability
- High level of integrity, ethical standards, and alignment with Sparta’s values
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other science-related fields
